Your photo and the preview

What photo works best?
One clear photo of their face, taken front on at your pet's eye level rather than from standing height, with both ears fully inside the frame. Daylight rather than flash, and light coming from the side does more than flat front-on light, especially on a dark coat where the features can otherwise disappear into the fur. The face should fill a good part of the frame, with both eyes open and visible. It does not need to be a posed or professional photo.

Can I try more than one style or photo before I decide?
Yes, up to 5 free tries before you buy anything.

How are the portraits made?
Your photo is turned into artwork by an image model. You see the result on the page before you order, and every order is checked before it goes to print. Nobody paints or draws it by hand, and we will not pretend otherwise. The care goes into the likeness: markings, ear shape and face, which you compare with your own photo before you order.

What happens if the preview doesn't generate?
Try again. If it still doesn't work, contact us and we'll sort it out.

Is my photo stored securely, and for how long?
If you order, we keep your photo and the finished artwork for 90 days after delivery, so we can reprint if anything arrives damaged. After that both are deleted. If you generate a portrait and don't order, your photo is deleted after 7 days. You can ask us to delete your photo sooner at any time.

How do I choose between ten styles?
Start with the room rather than the pet. A charcoal or classical oil sits quietly in a room that already has a lot going on. Pop art and bold block want space and a plain wall. Line art suits a modern room and reads well from across it. If you are still unsure, you can generate your pet in one style, look at it properly, and try another. You get five goes before you buy anything.

Can I have more than one pet in the same portrait?
Each portrait is made from one photo of one animal, so a single piece holds a single pet. For two animals, the usual approach is a portrait each in the same style, size and frame, hung as a pair. They sit together well because the treatment matches.

What if my photo is not very good?
You will find out straight away rather than after paying. Upload it, generate the portrait, and look at the result. A photo taken at the animal's eye level in daylight, with the face filling a good part of the frame, gives the most to work from. A dark, distant or heavily blurred photo gives less, and you will see that in the output before you commit to anything.

Orders and delivery

When am I charged?
At checkout, after you've seen your portrait and chosen the version you want. Generating and regenerating is free, and nothing is charged while you're deciding.

How long do production and delivery take?
Most orders are produced and delivered within 5-6 working days. Larger sizes and some destinations take longer.

Do you ship to my country?
We ship free to 33 countries: the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, most of Western Europe, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Israel and the Gulf states. The full list is in our shipping policy.

What happens if my frame or print arrives damaged?
Contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll arrange a free reprint or a refund. Send photos of the damaged piece and the packaging it arrived in, including the outside of the box, before you throw anything away. That's what we need to process it quickly.

About Custom Pet Portraits

Ten art styles, one process. Upload a photo of your pet, choose the style that suits the room it's going in, and a version of them gets made in that style, painterly, graphic, or somewhere in between.

You see the finished portrait right on the page, the markings, the ear shape, the way they actually sit. If the first version isn't quite them, generate it again. You only order once you're looking at the one you want.

Every piece is printed to order on cotton canvas or as a framed fine-art poster, in black, dark wood or natural wood, in three sizes from 30 x 40 cm up to 60 x 80 cm. Nothing is kept in stock and nothing is produced speculatively, which is why you choose the exact version before anything is made.

If you already know which style you want, go straight to it. If you don't, look through the range first. The difference between a charcoal sketch and a watercolor wash is more than surface deep, and the one that's right for a particular wall or a particular animal isn't always the obvious pick.
