Your photo and the preview

What photo works best?
One clear photo of their face, taken front on at your pet's eye level rather than from standing height, with both ears fully inside the frame. Daylight rather than flash, and light coming from the side does more than flat front-on light, especially on a dark coat where the features can otherwise disappear into the fur. The face should fill a good part of the frame, with both eyes open and visible. It does not need to be a posed or professional photo.

Can I try more than one style or photo before I decide?
Yes, up to 5 free tries before you buy anything.

How are the portraits made?
Your photo is turned into artwork by an image model. You see the result on the page before you order, and every order is checked before it goes to print. Nobody paints or draws it by hand, and we will not pretend otherwise. The care goes into the likeness: markings, ear shape and face, which you compare with your own photo before you order.

What happens if the preview doesn't generate?
Try again. If it still doesn't work, contact us and we'll sort it out.

Is my photo stored securely, and for how long?
If you order, we keep your photo and the finished artwork for 90 days after delivery, so we can reprint if anything arrives damaged. After that both are deleted. If you generate a portrait and don't order, your photo is deleted after 7 days. You can ask us to delete your photo sooner at any time.

Custom Cat Portraits

My cat will not sit still. What photo do I need?
One frame where both eyes are open and facing you is enough. It does not need to be a posed shot. Most people get it from a burst taken while the cat is settled on a windowsill or a sofa arm, at their level rather than from standing height. Daylight from the side does more for a cat's face than a flash ever will.

Will the tabby or tortie pattern come out right?
That is the thing to check when you look at the generated portrait. Fine patterning is where a style is most likely to generalise, and a tortie in particular has an asymmetry that matters. Look at the face first, the pattern around the eyes and across the bridge of the nose. If it has been tidied into something generic, regenerate or switch style before buying.

Which styles suit cats best?
Line art works particularly well, because a cat's outline, the ears and the set of the head, carries most of the recognition on its own. Watercolor handles a soft coat without flattening it. Classical oil suits a cat with strong contrast in the face and does less for a pale, evenly coloured one.

Orders and delivery

When am I charged?
At checkout, after you've seen your portrait and chosen the version you want. Generating and regenerating is free, and nothing is charged while you're deciding.

How long do production and delivery take?
Most orders are produced and delivered within 5-6 working days. Larger sizes and some destinations take longer.

Do you ship to my country?
We ship free to 33 countries: the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, most of Western Europe, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Israel and the Gulf states. The full list is in our shipping policy.

What happens if my frame or print arrives damaged?
Contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll arrange a free reprint or a refund. Send photos of the damaged piece and the packaging it arrived in, including the outside of the box, before you throw anything away. That's what we need to process it quickly.

About Custom Cat Portraits

Cats are harder to photograph and harder to get right. The markings are finer, the eye color does more of the work, and the difference between one tabby and another sits in details most styles would happily smooth away.

So look closely when the portrait appears. The pattern, the eyes, the shape of the face. If it hasn't kept what makes them theirs, generate it again or try another style. You only order once it's right.

Ten styles to choose from. Line art suits a cat's outline particularly well, and watercolor handles a soft coat without flattening it. Heavier styles like classical oil work better on a cat with strong contrast in the face.
